Making your own Radio Station

Creating your own radio station can be a lot of fun, and with Internet radio becoming more and more popular, anyone can create their own radio shows and voice their opinions. Although setting up your radio station might not be that difficult, there are a lot of behind-the-scenes issues you will have to deal with, such as getting permission from music artists to play their songs on your station and paying out royalties to those artists. Many platforms that allow you to broadcast over the Internet will not allow you to play any music that you do not have permission to play.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer Internet UBroadcast account UBroadcast software Microphone Recording interface Music
And now you have to follow the steps to create a Chanel of your own. Remember "Use if for a good cause !"

  1. Make an outline of what type of radio station you want to be and who you want your audience to be. Decide whether you want to be talk radio, music radio or a mixture of both. Next, decide what type of music and programming should be on your station and who that programming will be aimed at. If you are building a baseball talk radio program you will want to target baseball fans and have programming that relates to the subject matter.

  2. Get all the necessary equipment together to broadcast your radio station. You will need a microphone and a recording interface. You should be able to find a decent microphone and interface on eBay or Musician's Friend for an affordable price. You will also need a decent pair of headphones. A recording interface is hardware that plugs into your computer's USB port and allows you to hook up instruments including microphones and guitars to your computer for recording and live broadcasting.

  3. Go to UBroadcast and sign up for an account. The signup is free and only requires you to have a valid email address. Make sure you carefully read the Terms of Service before finalizing your signup so that you know what you are allowed to do and not allowed to do during a broadcast. UBroadcast is uncensored, but it does require you to have permission before playing copyrighted material on the air.

  4. Install the UBroadcast software, which is free and easy to use. Follow all the prompts to install the software properly.

  5. Contact major record labels, artist management and artists themselves and get permission to play their music live on the air. UBroadcast is a member of ASCAP, and it expects anyone who uses its software and platform to have permission and to pay out royalties as needed on music that is played on air. A failure to do so can result in a lawsuit and a hefty fine.

  6. Open the UBroadcast software and set up your playlist. Once the program has been opened you will see an option in the upper left corner that says "Add MP3." This is where you will add all the music you will play during your broadcast. Organize the music into a set list and save it for future use.

  7. Install your interface software. Your microphone will not be able to work with the UBroadcast software until the recording interface is hooked up and the mic is hooked up to the interface. Insert the installation disc into the computer hard drive and follow the prompts to install the software. Plug the interface into the USB port on your computer.

  8. Hook up your microphone to the interface along with your headphones. After the mic and headphones are plugged in you are ready to begin broadcasting.

  9. Click "Go Live" on the program menu, and begin broadcasting. You will be given options to name your radio station and to name the current broadcast as well. This allows you to name and create your own radio shows to go along with the music you will play.

  10. Sell advertising time on the air to local businesses to help promote their products and to pay for royalties.

Google Wave

Google Wave is "a personal communication and collaboration tool" announced by Google at the Google I/O conference on May 27, 2009.Initially released only to developers, a "preview release" of Google Wave was extended to nearly 1 million users beginning September 30, 2009, with the initial 100,000 users each allowed to invite from twenty to thirty additional users.

Google Wave is designed as a new Internet communications platform. It is written in Java using OpenJDK and its web interface uses the Google Web Toolkit. Google Wave works like previous messaging systems like email and Usenet, but instead of sending a message along with its entire thread of previous messages, or requiring all responses to be stored in each user's inbox for context, message documents (referred to as waves) that contain complete threads of multimedia messages (blips) are perpetually stored on a central server. Waves are shared with collaborators who can be added to or removed from the wave at any point during a wave's existence.

API

Google is building APIs that allow developers to use and build on Google Wave by way of:
  • Extensions, program robots to automate common tasks and/or build gadgets to extend or change user interaction (e.g., posting blips on microblog feeds or providing RSVP recording mechanisms).
  • Embed, dropping interactive windows into a given wave on external site, blogs, etc
Google released a Loooooooooong video for its Wave Preview which was recorded at the Google`s Wave Developer I/O Conference. Its said to be the first long video telecast over you-tube for preview purpose.

Internet addiction can harm real life

Hi Pals... Hope you were waiting for something interesting in ma blog & here is it ! This is the one which i was really taken aback by reading & got stunned & was thinking to plug off myself from my computer ! ! ! Read it & get some useful facts of it ;)
Technology can be seductive because it provides an instant reward - a text message from a friend, success in a video game or stimulating news on a Web site - that is not necessarily harmful.

But mental health experts say an addiction can form - just as with gambling - when people keep seeking that intermittent, unpredictable reward.
"The fact that it is unpredictable is what compels the brain to keep checking over and over and over," said Dr. David Greenfield, assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
"When people are afraid of not having their PDA or a phone with them, then it's addictive," Greenfield said.
Still, the question is: When does an addiction to technology become a problem?

Human contact suffers

Dr. Kimberly Young, founder and director of the Center for Internet Addiction Recovery of Bradford, Pa., said it depends on individual circumstances.
"It's not a time limit," said Young, who has been studying Internet addiction since 1994. "You can't diagnose alcoholism by how much someone drinks. "
Also, she said, "it's a generational thing. Go interview a 15-year-old, a 45-year-old and a 75-year-old, and you'll have different views of technology. For 15-year-olds, it's their lifeline."
But some of the warning signs include being so preoccupied with online activities that it affects relationships. (For more on signs of addiction, see the chart on the next page.)
There's a problem with "someone who is always having to get up in the middle of the night to check e-mail and not having sex with his wife," she said.
According to the center's Web site, NetAddiction.com, the most common type of Internet addiction is online pornography, but online gambling, auction sites and multiplayer role playing games are also on the rise. Surveys indicate half of Internet addicts also have another addiction, such as drugs, alcohol, smoking or sex.

Brain chemistry

Dr. John Ratey, an associate clinical professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, said a physical addiction can form from the chemical reaction in the brain - a "dopamine squirt" - that comes from a rewarding tech experience.
"We condition ourselves to need it, and after a while, it becomes a physical need like any other constant practice," Ratey said. "It's worse now because we've got all these devices."
Greenfield said that 10 years ago there used to be more debate among mental health professionals about whether Internet addiction was an actual malady or a symptom of more recognized problems such as depression and social isolation.

In fact, a Pew Research Center study released last month concluded that the rise of Internet and mobile phone use has not made Americans more socially isolated.
"Personally, I have some doubts about the notion that there can be an Internet addiction," said sociologist Keith Hampton, the Pew study's lead author and an assistant professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.
"We can't forget that we had media before the Internet," he said. "Husbands have been sitting at the dinner table reading the newspaper for a long time. Just because the devices change doesn't necessarily mean that the overall social pattern has changed."

China's response

Around the world, however, experts say they are just starting to measure the effects.
In China, which has almost 300 million Internet users, the government has declared Internet and video game addiction a public health problem.
Studies have found anywhere from 2.4 to 15 percent have a problematic Internet addiction, said Dr. Cheng-Hua Tian, professor of psychiatry at the Peking University Institute of Mental Health. In an e-mail, Tian said he and other senior psychiatrists are developing diagnostic criteria to more accurately measure addiction, which affects teenagers more than adults.
In the United States, Greenfield said, studies have estimated anywhere from 3 to 6 percent of Internet users have a problem. The nation's first inpatient "detox" center focusing on Internet and video game addiction opened in Fall City, Wash., in July.
The reStart Internet Addiction Recovery Clinic, which charges $14,000 for a 45-day recovery program, has treated three men and one woman who sought to kick serious video game habits that left them unable to complete school or hindered their ability to form real-world relationships, said clinic co-founder Dr. Hilarie Cash.

Instant gratification

In serious cases, technology "can be more immediately gratifying than the labor of building an intimate relationship," Cash said. "That is one of the biggest prices we pay by letting ourselves get seduced by all this technology."
Dr. Elias Aboujaoude, assistant director of the Stanford School of Medicine's Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Clinic, said there's no question in his mind that technology can cause problem addictions.
"From a clinical experience, I've seen plenty of people whose primary problem is an Internet problem," he said. "They're not gamblers, they're not pornography addicts, they're not necessarily depressed. And there are real offline consequences that we are just starting to appreciate.
"What we're seeing is that people with social anxiety are gravitating online as a substitute, and that can be OK to a certain point," he said. "There's nothing wrong with having these connections, unless your real-life relationships begin to suffer, and that's when it becomes problematic. Some of them truly have difficulty forming real-life relationships."

Signs of addiction

Here are some questions to ask if you think you are addicted to the Internet:
-- Do you spend excessive time online, or more than you intended?
-- Do you feel more depressed or lonely the more time you spend online?
-- Do you have a heightened sense of euphoria while online or using a computer?
-- Is it interfering with your job or school performance?
-- Do family or friends complain about the time and energy you spend online?
-- Do you frequently chose spending time online over going out with other people?
-- Do you hide, lie or become defensive about online activities?
-- Do you feel depressed, restless, moody or nervous offline and fine again when online?
-- Do you spend too much time with online pornography, multiplayer games or gambling sites?

What to do?

Unplug yourself completely from technology for at least a few moments each day.
-- Keep track of how much you use technology, and moderate overuse.
-- If needed, seek counseling, self-help or support groups.

my Account compromised !

Can anyone believe that my Orkut account was hacked ??? Yes eventually it was hacked... Here i go with that head breaking story.... It was the rainy day of 8th November, 2009 I got the news that the new orkut has been released and was happy over it.. I also got a sad news that it can be enabled only with a invitation from NEW ORKUT users ;). I went googling googling gooogling over it.

Finally got a list of communities in orkut where it was said that i could get invitations for the new orkut. I was trapped in this community named as New Orkut Official. i just logged into it and joined the community and had to post and play many games to win it. there was a post in that saying that there were some rules to be followed before i could be invited to the new orkut ! ... Like a dumb fool, i too feel into that convey ! ... See those FCUKING RULES...

Rules and steps

1- Join this community (Happily I did that  )
2- Add the community`s owner  (Merely I loved that)
3- Fill this CLICK HERE TO GET OFFICIAL INVITATION [http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDBPTllYVTlRUkJ3YVVxVHdwSUVwalE6MA  (DUMB FOOLED HERE)
If you break any rule then you will not be invited .

Then in a few minutes i was logged off from that community, then orkut, then gmail ., then total Google Services ! ... I never expected such a thing to happen. I created a new alternative account and logged to that community again & reported abuse about that site... That sult was too crazy enough to delete all my password recovery credentials on the whole. I was unable to reset my password... After long battle., I mail the Google HQ stating that my account was compromised  & I require Justice.... i then was interrogated with a bunch of questions (if it was to be ma school or college i would have stub them with a knif). I got a mail from the Google saying that i am granted access to my account with a new password. Thanks to the Google HQ.

After that, the craze for the NEW ORKUT did not leave me. I logged into other community named Get the New Orkut. And stove hard to get that invitation from Akash कुमार thanks to him. He gave me a invite to the new orkut & now I have this symbol to ma account ;)

and now you see ma profile to he like this ;)

As of now, I like this New Orkut, but there are problems in accessing the communities & other things... But still i prefer the old version of orkut ;) See you all 3@)<| with other post bubye

Quiz @ SNV

Hi Friends.,
Initially I would like to apologize for my late blogging of this particular activity. Many had been asking me for this event`s blog to know the success story. And here it goes.....
This was conducted on the day of Windows 7 Launch & it had a awesome response from the students Community of Sri Nehru Vidyalaya. On the 22nd October, 2009 I got a call from the Program coordinator, Mr.R.J.Santhosh Kumar stating that i had been asked by the authorities of the school to take session on the day of release at the time of 10:00 AM. It was a pinch of sugar for me and I just prepared few slides for it and got some assistants from my friends and started for the School. It was morning 9:00 AM and i went to the school. It was really disappointing to find that it was a POWER CUT in that area and will be back only at 1:00 PM. I was really kicked off with that power cut and returned home. I was called at 12:00 PM, stating that I have to be there by 12:30 and make some arrangement for the projector.. hmmmmm Problems are just dust in the MSP Life... I just started the Program after many hurdles........

This is a event which i missed to blog last week, amidst the busy schedule (sleeping & eating). This is nothing but about a simple Mega Quiz Program conducted in Sri Nehru Vidyalaya, Well known for its Rowdyism(i was one among the gang that time).

The Program was scheduled @ 10.00am on the day of Windows 7 Launch ! ... Yhea ! true ... it was on 22nd October !.... But unfortunately due to the poor current facility provided by the TNEB we had to shift the program to 12.30. Well thank god, they did not cut the current that time... As usual after may hurdles, i started the session with a small introduction on Windows 7 and a kind of Launch Party Stuff !

The Quiz program was all about Microsoft & some technical questions. I split up the Program into 5 divisions as of in which it was as follows:-

1.       First round – 5 teams  (I.T Round) – 10 questions
2.       Second round – 5 teams (Microsoft)- 10 questions
3.       Third round – 4 teams(Audio Round)- 4 questions
4.       Fourth round – 3 teams (Visual Round)- 3 questions
5.       Fifth round – 3 teams (Rapid Fire Round)- 9 questions

I called for the students i was stunned to get 100 participants & I was amazed ! ... I did not know what to do ... I just called for my friend and asked her to ask some general preliminary questions for selection of 5 teams.... It eat up half an hour & it was already 1.30............ I had to vacate the hall by 3.30... Finally the teams were selected with a huge applause and sent to the deice...
